I’ve been following a blog called Flotsam for a while now. It started as an infertility story and has morphed into a family story that puts my heart in my throat and could wring tears from the stoniest reader. Or so I thought.

What the hell is wrong with some people?

  1. I’m sorry, but the childfree movement is the most selfish, self-absorbed, and obnoxious group of pseudo-adults I’ve ever happened across. It’s one thing to not want children. It’s one thing to not care for children. It’s an entirely different thing to think no one should have children, that children are a disgusting plague that the world should be spared, or to wish a child (or her parents) harm.

    • I realized long ago that the idiots who post on childfree sites are self-absorbed and, a good deal of the time, downright evil. I’m all for people choosing not to reproduce, but the majority of the people who post childfree have serious issues of their own that they should seek help for.

    • I was unaware of these people until now. I did know that there were some pretty militantly child-free folks, but I didn’t realize it would swing so far. I don’t know why I’m surprised, but I am.
PS — Making any progress on that cute sushi set? I’m going to see my friend again shortly and I’d love to be able to give that to her.

Yep, I’m going to have it out to you at the end of the week. I’m trying to find one of those plastic trays that take out sushi comes in for packaging, too!
