I’ve been spotting for about 24 hours, so I’m thinking that I’m not pregnant. I can’t prove it yet, but it seems like a bad bet.

Two more tries before we call Dr. Rhee.

I saw a woman and her (presumably) adopted daughter on the train today. I was watching them so closely to see if their relationship seemed in any way different than that of other mothers and children I see. It could have been wishful thinking, but rather than seeming to lack intimacy they seemed besotted with one another.

I want to say something, but I don’t know what it is.
Oh, well, I’ll sit real still and try again later.

Thank you. I think I’m being very mature and even tempered about the whole thing — for now. I need to go get a lion.

You don’t have a lion yet?
Well, I don’t even know why you’re trying without a lion. Sheesh.
If nothing happens in two months, you’re going to go to the OB/GYN and she’s going to prescribe a lion. And then you’re going to feel really silly.
