I’m doing this to qualify for a piece of customized art from raving_liberal

The first five people to respond to this post will get a surprise goody bag from me. I will make a good-faith effort to customize the bag to you. I will also make a good-faith effort to get them mailed in a timely way. I will promise they’ll be out the door by the end of this month.

The more guidance you choose to give me in your reply, the more likely that I will be able to surprise you, make you laugh or otherwise send something perfect.

The only catch: as with most memes, if you sign up, you have to put this in your own journal as well. Feel free to customize the offer. Give to receive and all that.

  1. “Get in on the ground floor?”
Wait a minute: that means I have to give FIVE customized goodie-bags to get one for myself? Sounds like some kind of chain letter/pyramid scheme to me.

No, you have to give five something of your choice, in accoradance with your talents and desires.
Theoretically, you could get more than you give by replying to those who replied to you, as they would also be required to make an offering.

  5. Interesting. I think I will bite. I will have to wait to post this to my own journal until tomorrow though. I have to figure out what I would be willing to give.

I can’t believe I only have one taker on the goody bag. You will not regret it.

      • eh, coming up with gifts for possible strangers can be a bit intimidating.

      • Are you a knitter? There are quite a few on my Friends list and sometimes I can’t keep track.

i imagine it is. i originally offered goody bags and decided instead to stick to what i am know-recipes πŸ™‚
I don’t knit, although i do know a LOT of people who do.
Things I would love in a goody bag…
lessee, being a mom of two, anything that is all about ME is excellent.
My hobbies are limited. Anything kitchen related, reading, silly computer games
im currently trying my hand at quilting

      • Brilliant. That’s everything I need to know. Watch the skies.

  10. As much as I love getting surprises in the mail, especially one that’s customized to my particular likes, I have to say that in all probability I would not follow through with my end of the bargain. Plus, I’m with Curt – it sounds like I would come out the loser in the deal; I’d only get one thing, but would have to send out five. And I consider it sort of a badge of honor that I’ve never posted a meme on my LJ.

    • I’m sorry to see that most people aren’t interested. I thought it sounded like a lot of fun to write a haiku/make a goody bag/design an icon for my LJ Friends. I wasn’t really so much attracted to the net gain as I was the fun creative exercise. But to each his or her own, and I guess Willow Kitty gets the monster goody bag of all time.

      • Well, give it time. Most people aren’t as curmudgeonly as I am. It sounds like a fun idea for others to do, and for me to enjoy from the sidelines.
Are you and Damon still sharing a single cell phone, one that he uses most of the time? That makes it hard to contact you by phone, ya know.

      • Sadly, it seems they are.
Yes, Damon and I share the cell. Mostly because I don’t use the cell at all. But you can always call me at home. Let me know if you don’t have that number and I’ll email it to you.

      • Curiously, today I got the same meme from someone else on my friends list, who I don’t believe you know and whom I’ve never met my own self. If I was going to play at all, it would be with you, but I’m not. It would be interesting, though, to see what different things the two of you sent out.

      • I win! Even though I really don’t.
Is that person giving away goody bags too? I’ve seen various things on offer, so am surprised to hear of another gift thing. I readily acknowledge I picked one that is a pain in the ass. But I think I’ll have fun doing it.

      • This guy is making art for people, with the recipient specifically in mind. I told him I would be at a loss as to what to do – I could go act for him, I guess, or give people some tomatoes or peppers from my garden. If you weren’t in NY, I’d do that – swap produce for something.

      • Oh man, I would totally go for that.
