Tick… Tick…

Thursday, two days from now, the social worker is coming to do our home visit.

At the moment the apartment is in shambles, but we’ll get it shiny-perfect by the time we go to bed Wednesday night (I hope).

I’m nervous, but not losing-it nervous. It seems like a lot of the parents going through this step are in hysterics. Perhaps I’m overconfident. But I like our social worker and I don’t think she’s looking for ways to deny us.

Still, I’ll feel much better when it’s over. Until it’s time to get the report. At which point I’ll be likely even more anxious than I am now.

Any suggestions on what kind of snacks to feed her?

That is almost exactly what we did. I had cheddar cheese, rye crisps and a healthy trail mix. For drinks we had tea and a lovely selection of flavored seltzers.

That would have been so funny, I wish I’d thought of that in time.
