Birthday

Thanks to all who sent me lovely birthday wishes.

The story of my birthday won’t impress anyone, in that there’s pretty much no story to tell. But it was exactly what I wanted. I spent a lot of time lying on the couch. part of my wish was dominion over the television, and I ruled with an iron fist. Many cheeseball movies were watched. And somewhere in there I napped.

It was particularly a pleasure in that I have so much going on right now, which is reflected in the drop in my posting frequency. Work is nutty. We’re launching in just under a month. Heaven help me because I am tired and not nearly done.

My Mailman

I love the guy who delivers my mail at work. He’s so friendly that I believe we’re becoming pals. Our new game is when I get something weird in the mail I try to convince him that he would like to have it. This week it was one bottle of Diet Pepsi Caramel Cream soda. I gather this is a new product. Some PR person sent me the one plastic bottle wrapped in some sort of space-age chilling material that would allow me to drink the soda without delay (and possibly also to glow in the dark). It also came in enough packaging to make me write an apology to the polar bears. I declined to sample the drink, as did the mail guy. Someone bit, though. I stuck it in the kitchen and it was gone a few minutes later.

I do see why I wound up on that PR list. It makes sense. I’m less clear on why I’m getting repeated invitations to attend the screening of the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

What to Do With a Weekend

I was feeling a little bit under the weather this week, which probably accounts for why I’ve reached Saturday afternoon with not a plan on the schedule.

Damon’s off running errands. I think right now he’s at Borders spending a gift card he got for his birthday. I’m curious to see what he buys for himself. After that I hope he remembers to buy milk.

And that’s it, that’s the excitement so far. I’m watching an old season of The X-Files courtesy of Netflix.

Anyone got any low-impact suggestions for how to spend some free time? Any good movies out this weekend?

The Beginning of the Long Wait

We got good news today. We’re logged in with the Chinese authorities, which means we have a date. We can put our stake in the ground for 2/25/07. Now we sit and wait, probably for around two years. But maybe less. But maybe more. So far China has matched people logged in through 10/13/05. They don’t do one month per month, so it’s not as simple as comparing the two dates.

I wonder how we shall pass the time.

Irritable

Today it is easy to get under my skin.

It’s not even 10am and I can name two people I want to punch in the face, one I know and one I’ve never met.
